What happens is that your toe curls up in the flexed position and then gets stuck that way. Why does this happen? There is too much pressure being exerted on the tendon and the toe joint. Shoes that are too tight around the toe area can cause a hammertoe. Other possible contributing factors are arthritis and genetic predisposition. There are two states that your hammertoe can be in. If there is some minimal movement available to it, then it is called flexible. If there is no movement at all, then it is referred to as rigid. Our Delray Beach hammertoe treatment varies based on which type you have. For flexible ones, you may only need the use of an orthotic to take the pressure off of the toe joint. We have them custom-made for you from impressions taken at our office. Our Delray Beach hammertoe treatment is effective, especially when combined with a change in footwear to more supportive and comfortable shoes that give your toes the room they need. Nearly all rigid hammertoes, along with some especially stubborn flexible ones, will require surgery to correct them. Fortunately, you are in the best possible hands. The procedure is outpatient, performed right here in our office. There is no hospital stay required, and you can go home right afterward.

Our Delray Beach hammertoe treatment will relieve the difficulties you’re experiencing right now. The focus of our foot doctor is then on preventing recurrences. All you need do is contact our office to arrange your visit. We’ll set up a convenient time for you to come in.
